GREETERS
Greeting, shaking hands, and offering a warm welcome every Sunday morning in the
Narthex, at each service, will be a family, group, church school class, couple,
or someone special. Greeters are asked to arrive 20 minutes prior to the
church service and serve at one service only. This is a wonderful way to
meet people one has never had the opportunity to meet before.
LAY READER

Being a lay reader is tangible evidence that worship is not exclusively the
work of the clergy, but something all members of the congregation do. Having a lay
minister read the Scripture and lead in prayers is an encouragement to others to read and
pray in public as well as in private.
The requirements for being a lay reader at one service are minimal.
A one sheet instruction guide is sent to the lay reader following his/her
acceptance of this ministry. Also enclosed is the Gospel Lesson or Lesson he/she will
read.
A lay reader is asked to serve for only one service on one Sunday.
Serving the church in this way one will find pleasure and realize it is an honor
and joy to lead in the worship of God!

USHERS
Ushers are vital to the church services every Sunday. No duties are
required for ushers other than on Sunday mornings.
Many varied responsibilities are included in the ushers' duties.
They are requested to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the service to receive their
white carnations, check to be sure offering plates are at the lectern, and place programs
in containers outside the balcony doors and assume assigned positions. (Specific printed
instructions for ushers are available in the narthex.)
VIDEO TAPING CREW
Each week three persons are needed to video tape the Sunday Morning Worship
(8:30 a.m.) Service, which is then broadcast over Channel 21 on the local cable system. The
Director has the responsibility for the entire process and for two Camera Operators whose
duties are working the video cameras. A three person crew normally serves once every
five weeks unless there are more persons serving on the entire crew which then increases
the time of rotation.
This ministry involves both male and female youth, grades 9 through 12
and adults. The terms of service are up to the individual. Several adult
members have served for over 20 years. The youth members serve anywhere from 1 to 4
years, depending on when their ministry begins to when they leave for college or other
pursuits. Complete training is given.
SOUND SYSTEM MONITORS
Each Worship Service a volunteer member of the congregation serves as
Monitor for the Sanctuary Sound and Light System. This service involves being in the balcony
at the Sound Board to regulate sound for the worshipping congregation. Presently one
person serves at each of the services (8:30 a.m. and 11:00 am). The
monitor is also responsible for recording the service on compact disc. Another
responsibility of the monitor is to count attendees at each worship service. All
necessary training is given to the persons (grade 9 through adult) who wish to be involved
in this responsible ministry of the church.
